Tic Tac Glow is noughts and crosses made bright: glowing X and O marks draw themselves on a dark neon board, winning lines burst into light and a slow synthwave beat plays in the background. It starts with the game everyone knows, the classic 3x3 grid where three in a row wins, and then adds three modes that turn a five-minute pastime into a real strategy game.

In Infinite mode each player keeps only their last three marks: place a fourth and your oldest one fades out, so the game never ends in a full-board draw and every move has to think two turns ahead. Five in a row plays like gomoku on a 15x15 board where you line up five, with quicker 7x7 and 5x5 boards that need four. Ultimate tic-tac-toe puts nine small boards inside a big one: the cell you choose sends your opponent to the matching small board, win three small boards in a row to take the game.

Play the computer on easy, normal or hard (the hard 3x3 player never loses, and the bigger modes use real search), pass one phone or tablet between two players, or go online: quick match a random opponent in any mode, or create a private room and share its four-letter code with a friend. Online games are best of 3 or 5 with a 20-second move clock and emotes, and your wins count on the leaderboards. Tic Tac Glow runs in the browser on phones, tablets and computers, in portrait or landscape, with no download.

How to play

  1. Pick a mode: Classic, Infinite, Five in a row or Ultimate, then play the computer, a friend on the same device or someone online.
  2. Tap an empty cell to place your mark. X always moves first, and players swap X and O every game of the series.
  3. Classic and Infinite: get three of your marks in a row, column or diagonal. In Infinite your oldest mark (shown faded) disappears when you place a fourth.
  4. Five in a row: line up five marks on the 15x15 board (four on the 7x7 and 5x5 boards). On a phone, tap a cell once to preview and again to place.
  5. Ultimate: play in the glowing small board. Win a small board with three in a row, and win three small boards in a row to win the game. If you are sent to a finished board, you may play in any open one.

FAQ

Can you beat the computer in Tic Tac Glow?

On easy and normal, yes: they make mistakes you can punish. On hard the classic 3x3 player plays perfectly, so the best result against it is a draw. In Infinite, Five in a row and Ultimate the hard computer searches ahead but can still be outplayed with a good plan.

How does Ultimate tic-tac-toe work?

The board is nine small tic-tac-toe boards in a 3x3 grid. The cell you play inside a small board decides which small board your opponent must play in next. Winning a small board claims that square of the big board, and three claimed squares in a row win the game.

How do I play Tic Tac Glow online with a friend?

Choose Online, pick a mode and a best of 3 or best of 5 series, then tap Create room and share the four-letter code. Your friend chooses Join room and types the code. You can also tap Quick match to play a random opponent in the selected mode.
